His early years were filled with adventure. Baker traveled along with their missionary parents. James Colson Baker, his father, suffered depression and was unemployed. Her mother Sonia Alane had left him at the age of nine. Baker and his father relocated to Denver in the United States, and they stayed at the house of his dad's aunt. Baker was bullied by other youngsters because of his poor status. The first time he heard hip-hop was as he began sixth class. Baker had released four mixtapes in 2007 through the year 2010 prior to signing with Bad Boy Records. With lyrics that were faster than a bullet train the Cleveland rapper saw a rapid rise to fame in 2011. He went from releasing self-released cassettes, to being signed to labels. The career of this Cleveland rapper skyrocketed after he released his first mixtape late in 2011.
